My minds made up Im going to buy another .357 Mag Revolver(like I need another)I want it to be a S&W the two S&W Revolvers I have now dont suit my needs one is a Model 37 .38 Chiefs Special, the other is a NYPD marked unissued Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman.I would like something with a 3 inch barrel that can be concealed and that has a good comfortable grip.I carry my Ruger SP101 .357 with a 2 1/4 inch barrel when Im jogging and sometimes as a back up Duty weapon if Im not carrying my Beretta 9000s 9MM.Keep in mind Ive been a Ruger and Colt Revolver owner operator most of my life.So I really do need your advice and opinions so I will have an idea what to look for?I want a good grip must be stainless. My dealer has a good selection of S&W pistols but he may not have what you recommend? I will have to see how he can compare to a Police Supply company I can order from as well. All help is appreciated!

I would recommend a Model 66 with a 2 1/2" barrel. I have always like these as they are stainless and have adjustable sights.

rugster, for carry with a 3" barrel it's hard to beat a mod 15 in blue or a 65 in stainless.Only difference is the finish. For a slimmer gun I'd go with a model 60 with or without the adjustable sights.[^] [:p]

If you can drop down to .38 Special I believe that the S&W Model 60 with 3" barrel would be ideal as it is rated to handle +P+ loads. Here is a photo of my own 3" Model 60 which I fitted with after market wood stocks since I find the standard "rubber" grips quite unattractive. The adjustable sights may be a slight problem for "deep" carry situations but I like them.

The FBI at one time issued a S&W Model 13 with three-inch heavy barrel .357 mag. with a round-butt. It was comparable to the Model 19/66 with 2.5 inch barrel but was more concealable because of the round butt and fixed sights. I liked the model 13 more because it shot like a full-size gun with magnum loads. I thought the recoil and muzzle blast of the2.5 inch barrel K frame with hot .357 Mag. loads was excessive and not conducive to good shooting, especially at night, when it's muzzle flash would light up the countryside. The half inch barrel difference wasn't the big difference, I just felt like I had a full sized magnum in my hands rather than a snubby. The model 13 outweighed the Mod 66, but seemed to hide better.

Although not stainless, I like the M325 in 45ACP for carry.
